It is also important that you check the quality of staff on offer at the venue where you are looking to organize the event. Arranging a sports event can be a major headache and if you do not have the right people to carry it off then it can become an even more agonizing process. Having the right people means one who is ideally experienced and knows what they are doing. Even if they are not experienced they should at least have the skill sets that you are looking for as an organizer. Getting their timing right is also an important factor. 

Quite often it is seen that people who are working at a certain venue will only work for x number of hours. Anything more than that and you can count yourself to be lucky. So talk to the venue owners and get a good idea about when you can have all the people at your beck and call. In case the timings do not match you can get people on your own accord.
